Together, our staff and a core of experienced volunteers manage Leeza’s Care Connection serving as an indispensable resource for caregivers looking to ask questions, share a story, or find a solution. We have each been touched by caregiving in some way and find strength in lifting each other up to face the journey ahead. To not just survive, but thrive while walking the caregiving path.
CEO / Founder
I’m Leeza and I’ve had an extraordinary opportunity to live the life of my dreams as a TV journalist, speaker and author. I love telling the stories of people’s lives. The biggest story in my life happened when my mom got Alzheimer’s disease. Her mother, my granny faced the same fate. By watching these important women show up with such grace and dignity as they battled the thief of memories, I learned that there is great power in facing our fears and great humanity when someone opens up to receive the help of others. Mom asked me to tell the story of our family’s journey and to “make it count”. That is part of why I created LCC. To make sure those who are forgetting will not be forgotten and to honor the courageous caregivers who stand by someone they love. My dad learned to summon his strength when he cared for my mom until her death and now, through Leeza’s Care Connection, I get to share with many others who have found courage they never knew they had.
I am profoundly grateful for this blessing and honor. It is a treasure in my life, a daily reminder of the power of the human spirit and a great “story to tell.”
Managing Director (CA)
I have worn many hats for Leeza's Care Connection over the years, but I am proudest of my current role as Managing Director at our Burbank center. Leeza's Care Connection allows me to bridge my professional and educational backgrounds and fulfills my life-long passion for nonprofits. I graduated with Honors from UC Berkeley with a degree in Sociology with the purpose of applying my social research to directly serve our community. I earned my Masters in English and have since worked in several overlapping fields, including publishing, nonprofits, and the film & entertainment industry.
Managing Director (SC)
As Managing Director of our center in Irmo, SC at the Mary Meech & Michael J Mungo Home, I enjoyed planning the center opening in July 2016, and our annual events like Dare2Care and Senior Prom. Most of all I enjoy daily interaction with resilient caregivers, army of volunteers, and faithful community and business partners. Like Leeza, I am an Irmo, SC native and graduated from Irmo High School. I received my bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in Business Administration and was privileged to work in the Hospice industry before joining the LCC team. In addition to my experience with caregivers and volunteers, I hold certifications as a Dementia Specialist, Certified Business Coach and Hospice Educator.
You will find me most days giving smiles, hugs and lots of encouragement at our beautiful, free community center. Please stop in for a quick tour and cup of hot coffee when you are in our area!
My path to Leeza’s Care Connection began when I became my mother’s primary caregiver, although I was unaware at the time. Like many former caregivers, I often felt the need to give back to those who give so much. After caring for my mother, I earned a Master’s degree in clinical and community psychology and later became co-owner of a small family business. However, it was ultimately my passion for volunteering that would introduce Leeza’s Care Connection into my life. The connection was instant!
As program director for our SC location, I have the unique opportunity of wearing different hats to best serve our caring community. From channeling my educational background of therapy and community programming to sharing my passion for graphic design, I am blessed to work alongside such strong and talented team members and be amongst a special family of volunteers and caregivers.
I joined the Leeza’s Care Connection team two years ago and have loved the experience. My favorite aspect of the job are the connections I have made through our incredible caregivers and facilitators. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Woodbury University in Burbank,CA and am about to complete my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. Due to my clinical training and academic experience, I have been able to educate our incredible facilitators and help them in applying learned skills in our support groups.
I take great pride in working with the team at the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation. I bring over 30 years of experience working in accounting with all kinds of companies, but I especially enjoy being of service to non-profits. I’m a Toronto native with a Bachelor’s Degree and MBA in Psychology and Business from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio. Even though my first experience with California was being awakened to the earthquake in 1994, I am a very happy west coast resident and I love working with Leeza and her team.
Our Governing Board
Holly Tyrer has been a dedicated supporter of the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation since its inception Bringing decades of hands-on caregiving experience. In 2006, Holly became a weekly volunteer heading the Scrapbooking program where she nurtured the community through scrapbooking cherished memories, journaling, storytelling and an endless supply of hugs for those that needed it most…the caregivers. Holly has also served as an interim director at the Burbank Leeza’s Care Connection.
ABEX president and CEO, launched his company as a five-person operation in 1981. Today Abex employs over 100 skilled individuals and manufactures the majority of their portable modular exhibit components in-house. From award-winning rotomolded cases, which Abex manufactures in-house, to the elite winner of Exhibitor’s Best of Show award for exhibit design, Abex has proven to be an innovator in the exhibit industry. Robbie Blumenfeld’s commitment to utilize state-of-the-art equipment in all aspects of his company allows the Abex staff to provide the highest quality products and services.
Gregg Silver was born and raised in Beverly Hills, California and attended college at Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges where he graduated with a B.A. in Business Management as well as played both football and baseball. After graduating, Gregg spent three years in executive management positions within Hyatt Hotels and 10 years at Universal City Studios in Hollywood where he was an executive in charge of the Universal CityWalk Project. For the past 14 years, Gregg has owned his own real estate investment company while also brokering real estate transactions through Keller Williams Realty in Beverly Hills where his real estate group has been the top producing agent team in their office for the past three years.
Todd is a founding Board Member of the Anti Recidivism Coalition, a support and advocacy group for formerly incarcerated young adults seeking to improve their lives. Last year, ARC was instrumental in passing two pieces of legislation, SB 260 and SB 9, both reforming sentencing rules for juveniles, focusing resources on rehabilitation, rather than mass and long term incarceration. Todd is an advisory board member of the Harold Robinson Foundation, offering a camp experience to underprivileged children in LA County. Each year, HRF sends 2,500 kids to camp, who otherwise would not have the opportunity. He has brought all of these organizations together, building partnerships, community and a better life for many kids. As the managing partner of top entertainment law firm Morris Yorn, TR has instituted a policy at his firm of hiring young people from his programs. Todd is also the Board Chair of InsideOUT Writers.
